It’s Time to Grab Your Bike!

The 8th Annual Tour de Gap returns to Buffalo Gap, just a bit south of Abilene, this weekend, Saturday July 24th. The bike race benefits the Food Bank of West Central Texas. The ride starts at 8:00am. There are four distances to choose from: 11 miles, 27 miles, 52 miles, and 77 miles. Awards will be presented for a number of age categories for the 77 mile race.

The race route will start and end at the Old Settler’s Reunion Grounds this year. Cadence Sports will be timing all the participants. All riders must wear a helmet for the race.

Pre-registration is closed. However, you can still register the day of the race between 6:30-7:45am for $30. Children 14 and younger ride free.

There is shopping around the start line so those who aren’t riding, but want to come out and cheer on their riders. The awards ceremony for the 77 mile race will be at 1:00pm at the pavilion. Swag raffles will also be going on through out the day for all participants.

If you like to ride this is a wonderful cause and a fun race in which to take part. Plus, the weather should be reasonable this Saturday!
